Bloody Tom Cruise (Top Gun, Mission: Impossible)... Sometimes I wish he would retire, he creeps me out just a little bit. He's so tiny and old and he's still making these same movies over and over again... they've gotten more of a sci fi twist lately as well. I have to admit the movies he stars in are never crap but I'm always a little discouraged at him being the action male lead. It's probably just me...

Aliens have invaded and caused Groundhog Day... that's what I got from the preview anyway... This is the second film that I've watched lately that has aliens or machines that rip off the sentinels from The Matrix. Have the alien development departments not got any imagination anymore?

Also starring Bill Paxton (Agents of SHIELD, Twister), Brendan Gleeson (Harry Potter, Braveheart) and Emily Blunt (Devil Wears Prada, Looper), Edge of Tomorrow is very much like every other sci fi / action film you've ever seen starring Tom Cruise.

You may not recognise the lead actress in this film but I'm sure you've seen her work. Gina Carano is a stunt woman, ex-Gladiator and Muay Thai champion. Girl has some serious moves! (If you want to check out some of her fights, just youtube her. I spent a whole lunch break watching her ring fights, she's amazing!)

Her first film and check out her co-stars! Channing Tatum (Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street), Michael Angarano (Almost Famous), Michael Douglas (Basic Instinct, Traffic), Antonio Banderas (Desperado, The Mask of Zorro), Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting, Star Wars) and Bill Paxton (Twister, Apollo 13). How's that huh? Awesome, that's how that is.

The very first scene Gina kicked Channing's ass! Love it! I've rewound and watched that scene so many times now, it's so good. All of the fight scenes are good, as they should be with Gina being a professional. The story line is your typical betrayed secret agent / contract killer / private contractor; nothing special but the fight scenes definitely make it worth while and it's filmed really well.
