TV: Falling Skies SE2 EP10

Falling Skies
Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller

First of all, ten episodes is a season now? Really? What are we, England? Soon they'll be cutting them down to six episodes and calling it a season rather than a mini-series. Plus, how crap was that for a finale? It gave us nothing! I'm going to rip the shreds out of this ep, watch me...

(I read this blog before I started writing this post, so it's coloured my vision of this ep in its negativity... Good post though, I agree with most of what this person has to say!)

I knew that something was not quite right about Charleston and as soon as I saw the Great White Hunter - Terry O'Quinn (Lost) - I knew he was involved. Fancy seeing him there, he's in everything these days. Oh, and he's at the centre of a coup, so many surprises... *sarcasm*

So many things about this episode annoyed me. Ben (Connor Jessup) was weird the whole time, I actually thought for a bit that he might be on the other side of things, maybe just a bad acting day? The General (Matt Frewer) turned from being kind of awesome last episode to being the villain this ep, then flipping back to being the good guy again by the end? So confused as to whether we are meant to like him or not! Where'd the Rebel Skitters come from? How'd they know about Charleston being underground when the 2nd Mass didn't, and how the hell did they just walk right in? Great defences there General! And the same for the giant gun that was apparently going to spell disaster for all humanity... uhh, no defences? Walk right in? Okay then!

This season finale was like a complete repeat of last seasons finale. Blow something up, more random aliens, not sure if one of the Masons is now compromised, plus a major cliffy that will probably be completely solved in the first episode of next season.

Really disappointed! I thought a few of the episodes this season were so great and now this? Boo!

TV: Falling Skies SE2 EP8

Falling Skies
Action, Sci-Fi, Thriller

Like that kid - Jenny - wasn't planted in the middle of the road to get what information they could? It's the same as Karen coming back. Why the hell didn't someone tell Matt (Maxim Knight) not to tell her anything? So stupid! Now they're going to come and take down Charleston aren't they? Or do you think she was part of the rebels? PS. Did you see her mutations? Cooooooool.

So what about Maggie (Sarah Carter)? Pope (Colin Cunningham) is a criminal too isn't he? There's got to be more to that story, that is not big bad secret... I mean, the world is ending, we're being invaded by an alien race, who cares who was in prison before that? Can you really blame her? If Hal (Drew Roy) is really that bothered about it then he can move onto the next hussy in the 2nd Mass. 'Tis a stupid thing to be angry at when you could die at any time. And the baby? He cannot be pissed about that, what has it got to do with him? Absolutely nothing!

This episode was a tad disappointing after the awesomeness of the last few eps. Very much seemed like a filler with no umph, which if not what you want this close to seasons end!

Two episodes left!

TV: Falling Skies SE2 EP7

Falling Skies
Action, Sci Fi, Thriller

I've watched this episode a few times already and keep having to rewatch it because I wasn't paying enough attention the other times and missed bits. I think this show is getting too good to miss bits now...

Seeeeee! I told you Karen (Jessy Schram) was a total lying biatch! Leading Ben (Connor Jessup) straight into an ambush! Thank goodness for Tom (Noah Whyle) and Hal (Drew Roy) hey? If the zombie apocalypse were to hit tomorrow, I would look differently at my history teachers...

I love that Matt (Maxim Knight) is starting to be taken seriously. Training kids would be the first thing I would do. You cant be watching them all the time, the best way to make sure they stay alive is to teach them how to look after themselves! Who knows, the aliens might underestimate the kids and then we'd have some kinda leeway somewhere, somehow. Look how well he did this episode! Excellent!

Jamil (Brandon Jay McClaren)! Noooo! *sobs* What an awesome death scene though! Wow! Almost as good as some of the ones on McClaren's previous show, Harper's Island. Had to watch that bit again, so good!

The giant alien, cooooooool. I totally woulda shot it too if I was Tom... Glad he had the balls to do it. Karen being so haughty as she's being led to her 'Master' and then her face when she found out Tom had shot him! Haha, suck on that Karen! Ner, ner!

Now that Ben's gone off on his own do you think they are going to split the showtime between Ben & The Resistance and The 2nd Mass? That would be cool but I think they will most likely follow the 2nd Mass and we'll only get little snippets of Ben until he runs into them again.

I also think Charleston is a sham, there's nothing there...

TV: Falling Skies SE2 EP6

Falling Skies
Action, Sci Fi, Thriller

Both Pope and Karen are back?

I knew Karen was after Ben the whole time because he can lead her to the rebel skitters. I was just disappointed to find out that she made both Ben and Hal believe her and so quickly, I expected more from the both of them. It's frustrating because even before I saw her go ninja on Maggie's ass, I knew she was against the 2nd Mass...

What the hell was the spike thing? I think maybe Hal had the right idea with the controlling thing, but had the wrong person. It's Karen who controlled whatever it was to turn Ben to her cause. I just cant believe that's all it took for her to convince hum, that must have been some connection.... What a bitch! Though it's kinda cool watching them use their 'powers'...

Thank goodness for Maggie, she knows what's going on. She is one gutsy woman but that was probably the wrong move to make. I knew Pope was involved somehow too, just too coincidental for him to show up at the same time that they find Karen. I actually guessed what had happened to him.

I knew that bite from the skitter hatchling thing was gonna get do something bad and the Captain's only been keeping things from Tom 'cos he's not sure about him anymore, he might still be transmitting something to the skitters. What was that worm thing in his head anyway? Has anyone figured it out yet? I know if went to the red eyed skitter but what did it tell him and is he really the good guy he's making himself out to be? Now that we've had the skitter rebellion confirmed by Pope, do we believe ol' Red Eye?

Season is interesting! Bring on more action, more of the aliens plans! I love how I always question parts of this show but hate how other parts are just so darn predictable. *sigh*

TV; Falling Skies SE2 EP4

Falling Skies

So I wasn't sure what to think of this when it first came out but like most shows, I gave it a go. I got through season 1 but wasn't too captivated. Children stealing aliens, m'kay then. But the last episode of the season left me hanging. I mean who didn't want to know what the hell happened to Tom in that spaceship?

Of course now the season has started and we still want to know what that alien was talking about! Allowing the resistance to surrender? I don't get it either. Does that mean we should just give up on hoping that the 2nd Mass will make it....somewhere....?

This episode has been the catcher for me I think. I'm more invested in the characters now and want to know what's going on with them.

The very first opening scene with Matt was fantastic! I loved it! I knew from the very first that he was luring the skitters into a trap but i actually expected Ben to be the one shooting them. I figured that maybe since he was teaching his brother to shoot in the last episode that he would be replacing Jimmy with Matt? But no, okay. I actually thought the whole idea was bloody brilliant and didnt think twice about it until Tom went nuts about it.

I liked the side story with those two soldiers / 2nd Massers / dudes as well. Nice touch to see Tom take care of the small problem of an insubordination without letting it result in a major issue. Round of applause for Tom! *cheers*

What the hell is going on with Ben and those glowing spikes? I always thought that the harnesses were live, kind of like the goa'uld in Stargate or Yerks in Anamorphs (hehe), it was nice to see my suspicions confirmed, but it makes the idea of the spikes in Ben's back even more interesting. I wonder if the alien is like a starfish and can grow after separation.

The last thing I wanted to discuss was the discovery of the Captain's daughter, how lucky was that? I supposed they had to add that soft spot to the Captain after he lost Jimmy last episode. *sobs* The goodbye scene was touching with claire de lune playing on the guitar. Lovely. Poor Capt'n, wonder if we'll ever see the girl again?

I leave it to the rest of the season to improve this rating!
