TV: American Horror Story SE3 EP13

American Horror Story
Drama, Fantasy, Horror

Ok, I've heard good and bad things about this finale and I have to agree with both. The Stevie Nicks music video at the very beginning of this episode is overkill. She's already had a feature in an entire episode, stop being so greedy! Yeah, yeah, she's like massively famous and rumored to be a witch so it's kinda smart I suppose but like I said, one episode is enough Stevie. Plus, that lip syncing was terrible!

This season - Coven - started off really slowly, I was actually very disappointed at first but it's really picked up in the last few episodes. I was so excited when I saw Kathy Bates (Misery, Fried Green Tomatoes) was guest starring in this season, that was huge! And what a character she played, fantastic. I hope she will be in next season too.

Poor Misty Day (Lily Rabe), what a sweet girl and I did so hope for her to be the new Supreme. I did not expect her to die that's for sure... actually I'm surprised at how many of them did die this episode. Once Misty was out of the running I thought for sure that Zoe (Taissa Farmiga) would be the Supreme... then she died too. Just when we thought that Madison (Emma Roberts) - the bitch - was going to be the Supreme. Thank goodness she wasn't! I'm not surprised that Kyle (Evan Peters) killed her, I wanted to strangle her too. Cow.

I'm not at all surprised that the Supreme turned out to be Cordelia (Sarah Paulson), or that Fiona (Jessica Lange) was still alive. I knew that when Cordelia saw the vision of the Axeman (Danny Huston) killing Fiona that it wasn't quite right. Then when they were hugging I thought for sure Fiona would stab Cordelia in the back... oh well, I suppose it had to end somehow.

I was totally surprised about Myrtle (Frances Conroy) burning at the stake - again! I thought for sure after half the coven had been killed that she would stick around just to make up the numbers. But of course she was right and Cordelia had already put the word out about the coven, so more witches would be joining soon. Still, who would volunteer for that?!

Three seasons and I think season two - Asylum - is my favorite so far. We've had murders and ghosts, crazy people and more ghosts, and finally witches and voodoo; what will be next do you think? I love how this show changes every season and recycles most of it's cast. It's good to see that they can actually act and continue to convince us of their characters each season.

Honorary mention to Denis O'Hare as the help, the demented butler, Spalding. I didn't recognize him!

TV: True Blood SE5 EP7

True Blood
Drama, Fantasy, Mystery

So disappointed that Guardian (Chris Meloni) is gone, he was so good! Damnit! I am really confused by this episode, I have absolutely no idea what's going on.

Russell (Denis O'Hare) born again? Are you kidding me? Love his character and Denis is just so amazing at it. I find myself giggling at nearly everything he says. Glad he's back this season. Nora (Lucy Griffiths) really is a Sanguinista! I really wanted her to be lying or a little batty from the exposure to UV... *sigh* I knew Salome (Valentina Cervi) was in on it somehow... oh, look, she was the one who dug Russell up, fancy that!

I have absolutely no idea what is going on with this whole Sanguinista stuff... not the slightest...

Claude (Giles Matthey); what do ya'll think? I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have read the books. Are you as disappointed in him and Claudette (Camilla Luddington) as Cassie and I were? They are supposed to be tall and beautiful and I always pictured them with auburn hair and green eyes. Claude is short and he's not that hot.... There is an over-abundance of hotness in this show I 'spose... The club is almost exactly like I pictured, though I didn't expect it to be in the middle of a field. It was in Shreveport in the books, wasn't it? (It's been a while since I read them.)

So Sookie (Anna Paquin) can be a normal girl! What do you think, should she? She is a bit off her rocker this season... but I don't think turning human will stop all the crazy stuff that happens around her... and who knows what else it will do to her? I think she would still taste just as delicious to vamps...

Tara as a vampire is kinda disturbing me. Her wardrobe is gross, come on! Leather bikini? Really? Rutina Wesley is way too buff to pull it off... it makes her look a bit transvestitey... They need to cover her more, she needs the mystery. Loving the relationship between Tara and Pam, they are gonna be great together! I did keep expecting Pam to come out with "I'm your mother now". *snickers*

Speaking of mystery, what the hell was with the trip on Liliths blood? Where are they going with this? Love the reappearance of Godric (Allan Hyde), he has to be one of my favourite characters. I hope he appears more often! There was never enough Godric for me. *swoons* The stopping of the taxi driver had me in fits for ages! So funny, screen capped especially for this post.

Love True Blood as always!

Edge of Darkness (2010)

Mel Gibson's (Braveheart) still pretty good looking for an old man don't ya think? I've always liked him. Bojana Novankovic (Devil, Drag Me To Hell) plays his daughter. I'm going to call her Australian even though she was born in Serbia, she moved to Oz when she was seven so that makes her mostly Aussie. So thats two Aussies in one movie! Excellent!

Holy crapola, that first scene.... was not expecting that even though I watched the preview and knew it was coming. Wow! Explosive!

From the very beginning I couldn't stop questioning why Emma was sick... I thought at first that maybe she was moving drugs and a condom had burst in her stomach or something. She was vomiting and pale and sweaty, but no it wasn't that at all, was it? Yet it was never mentioned in the autopsy. That was strange don't you think?

It's a bit weird to see Denis O'Hare as a dirty American Government official and not hear that dirty Southern accent that he uses in True Blood. But it was Ray Winstone (Hugo, The Departed) that stole the show for me. I wondered about him the whole way through; Good guy? Bad guy? I still hadn't decided when it came to the end of the movie but I think that was the point. His character hadn't decided how to react to the whole situation until the very conclusion. Brilliant performance!

Good movie, spent the whole time trying to figure out what was going on... which was the point!
