TV: Mass Post... Part IV

Well, I do have a movies mass post half done (there will be several of those too) but I just watched a few finales and had to blog about them because I'm just so darn excited!

Once Upon A Time is welcoming (sorta) Queen Elsa from Frozen! Argh! I have to say this show is a guilty pleasure. My inner, fairy tale loving 8 year old girl is loving this show. Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) is so swoon-worthy, I'm so jealous right now. It does get sappy sweet but I can deal with that as long as baddies like the Wicked Witch (Rebecca Mader) and Elsa keep appearing (cos if you didn't know, Elsa is actually a baddie...). So cool. Shame Once Upon a Time in Wonderland didn't do so well; it's not been renewed for another season but I'm really glad they wrapped it up before finishing it. Nice happy ending, just like fairy tales are supposed to have.

I also just nabbed the first episode of Penny Dreadful, which I've been keeping an eye out for. Starring Eva Green, Timothy DaltonJosh Hartnett and Billie Piper, set in 19th century England and featuring favourite supernatural beings of the century? It's no wonder I've kept it in my thoughts. From the looks of it we will be dealing with Dracula and Frankenstein... Speaking of, that end scene was just brilliant. I'm looking forward to seeing what the rest of the season will bring. Stay tuned, I'll let you know how it goes.

Holy, mother flipping Revenge?! What an episode... Gobsmacked. That was twist after twist like a damn roller coaster. There is literally nothing I can say about this that won't be a major spoiler... The twist we all hoped they wouldn't use but knew was pretty much inevitable finally happened. This episode was so great! It would've been better without that particular scene though... I actually thought it was Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) coming to get him But now what? Aiden (Barry Sloane)... Jack (Nick Wechsler)... Victoria and Conrad (Henry Czerny)... David (James Tupper)! This show needs to be careful not to go too Bold & The Beautiful on us though.

If you want a show with more blood and boobs than Game of Thrones you should check out Banshee. If you aren't watching this, you should be, it's totally nuts! There's two short seasons so far and they are both explosively exciting with strong seasonal plot, the meanest looking Ukrainian mob boss, a tough as nails ex-Amish 'businessman', the biggest freaking American Indian I've ever seen, plus a whole heap more. Though I swear half the town died in the last episode... that is some crazy gun fighting going on there. Also, an awesome soundtrack. Do it!

I've decided I won't do a Game of Thrones update until the season's done. I just like to savor it plus there's enough spoilers out there (cough, books) that you don't need me doing it too. Movies next, promise!

Love Gee

TV: Once Upon A Time: SE3 EP6

Once Upon A Time
Adventure, Fantasy, Romance

*Disclaimer: This show is really lame and has lots of plot holes which I am blatantly ignoring....but I just can't help myself...*

I am such a sucker for the fairy tales and this episode was all about everyone's favorite mermaid, Ariel. Played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher who you might recognize from Not Another Teen Movie and more recently The Internship (which is hilarious - again, I'm a sucker for these things...). They stick mostly to the typical Little Mermaid storyline, with a little Snow and Evil Queen thrown in. Ariel is totally naive and as sickeningly sweet as Snow is. The Evil Queen appears as Ursula to offer Ariel Snow's legs which she just goes ahead and takes! What the actual? Ariel, leg ettiquette says that you must ask a person before just taking their legs! Sheeeeesh.

The CGI budget must have gotten a bit bigger with this season because Regina (Lana Parrilla) as Ursula didn't suck as much as I thought she would and Ariel's tail was actually kinda cute... well, that's what I was thinking until we see the actual Ursula in the mirror at the end... that was not the best guys! Speaking of the real Ursula, I recognised that voice right away as Yvette Nicole Brown from Community.

Regina took Ariel's voice before she could meet up with Prince Eric (Gil McKinny) and so he went on his big adventure. I have a sneaking suspicion that we will see both Eric and Ariel in Wonderland sometime soon as I heard Eric say something about Agrabah. I love crossovers.

Back to our main characters and the Echo Cave. I thought Hook (Colin O'Donoghue) - *fans self* - would have a bigger secret to tell than that he kissed Emma (Jennifer Morrison). Like really Hook? That's it? So obviously that means he's not betraying them then... right?! And Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin)... another baby? *voms* We all knew that Charming (Josh Dallas) would have to tell everyone about the Dreamshade, that one was obvious.

Neal (Michael Raymond-James from True Blood) and Emma, finally! Sorry Hook...

So like I said at the beginning; so corny, so many plot holes... but the fairy tales!

3 out of 5 guilty pleasures...

TV: Once Upon A Time SE2 EP1

Once Upon A Time
Adventure, Drama, Fantasy

This is another show that had a huge first season and I have to say I rather enjoyed it. It was fun trying to guess which fairy tale character the persons alter-ego was, especially Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle). It's also another show that only took a short break between seasons, which I absolutely love! There is nothing worse than really enjoying the first season of something and then having to wait six months for it to return during which time you completely forget what the first season was all about. I did wonder how they were going to continue with this show now that the curse has been broken though...

First off, who is this random guy in the city who gets the postcard of Storybrook? There is absolutely no more information about him... Obviously the postcard saying 'Broken' means that the spell has been broken but who sent the postcard and who is this guy?!?

Now we are getting glimpses into the fairy tale land they are all from and there are actually people still wondering around that place. Why then does Regina (Lana Parrilla) tell them all that that place was destroyed? Oh, you know, besides her being an evil witch...

Oh, and Mulan (Jamie Chung); very cool!

How strange for Emma (Jennifer Morrison) to have Snow (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Charming (Josh Dallas) there in mind and body. Poor girl didn't know what to say or do, they didn't make it any easier for her just staring at her though. I was a bit weirded out myself.

I thought finding Belle (Aussie - Emilie de Ravin) would be good for Mr. Gold, I thought he would be good for her.... but no, of course not. It's never that easy is it? I'm a huge fan of Robert Carlyle, he's the stand-out in this show definitely and his character is the most interesting I think. Though in saying that, I love how they made Ruby (Meghan Ory) different than the typical fairy tale.

I think that Emma is the key to magic now that the curse has been broken. The hat didn't work for Regina until Emma grabbed her hand and now that Emma has been sucked into fairy tale land, Regina's evil powers work again. The question is, while Emma and Snow are away, what is Regina going to do? Will Henry (Jared Gilmore) be enough to keep her on the good side? It wasn't before..

A bit confusing and I'm feeling a bit meh about it now... but will continue to watch of course...
