TV: LA Complex SE2 EP10 & 11

LA Complex
Drama

I know, I know; it's almost time for the next episode and I'm reviewing last weeks? Well, you all know how much I love this show, I just can't not review an episode! I've been thinking about this double one ever since as well. Love it!

So Abby (Cassie Steele) and Kal (Andra Fuller) went to see Tariq (Benjamin Charles Watson)! I've been waiting for that all season. I thought they both did really well in that meeting, I was glad and sad at the same time. Kal has changed quite a bit since last season though hasn't he? He's still searching for himself... It's nice that he and Chris (Jarod Joseph), the lawyer, have sorted things out a little, and Dynasty (Dayo Ade) as well. I really like Dynasty.

I hope that this movie Raquel (Jewel Staite), Cam (Kristopher Turner) and Kevin (Jordan Johnson-Hinds) are making turns out awesome and a huge smash and makes all their careers....If they can pull it all together. The one scene they filmed in the bank had me cracking up! Hilariously brilliant! But Raquel skimming cards is not the way to do it! She's going to get caught and go to jail for real this time if she's not careful. It was a bit too close for comfort with that one customer...

How nice was it of Cam to sign Beth (Dayle McLeod) up for the SATs? She actually looked like she was enjoying that exam! We all know she's going to ace them! I really like this guy, glad him and Kevin have a bigger role in this season. They are so cute together - Beth and Cam that is - I swooned a little.

Connor (Jonathan Patirck-Moore) converting to Charlotte's (Tori Anderson) religion...I have nothing against religion but this one is creeping me out a little. Is it even a religion? I noticed that they never mentioned God and I was a tad confused until Eddie (Ennis Esmer) pointed out what it was all about. Connor does need the help though...

Who couldn't see that Sabrina (Georgina Reilly) telling her parents she's a comedian was a bad idea? And now she's moved in with Nick (Joe Dinicol). She was such a bitch to him in this episode, I wanted to slap her silly. He was being so nice and cute and caring! He made her audition work, how good was that? He's a keeper girl! I supposed those demented I Love You's at the end of this ep were sweet....sorta.... meh.

Oh, holy crapola! Beth and Simon's (Michael Levinson) dad! Woah! Luke was watching it with me and he actually thought that Dad was going to take Simon at the theme park. "Oh we're going on the rollercoaster," and then never come back. Close.... I love how the whole complex stood up and stopped him when he tried to take Simon! *huge naww*

Oh yeah... was that Gray (Steve Byers) proposing to Abby?! WTF!

TV: LA Complex SE2 EP9

LA Complex
Drama

Every week I find myself posting about the new ep of this show, that's the sign of a good one right? I think so. Even though this is only a drama, something happens every week that I want to talk about and I've grown so attached to the characters... It kind of reminds me of Skins a little...

Wow, now I want to know what happened with Connor's (Jonathan Patrick Moore) parents... They've mentioned a few little things and that's probably where Connor's mental issues came from; abandonment. Now he has a sister though. It looks like they all suffered some form of mental illness, can anyone say hereditary? I'm glad I was wrong about her and that Charlotte (Tori Anderson) actually is Connor's sister, he needs some family.

Told you Raquel (Jewel Staite) was going to get sued....again! Kinda knew she would apply for bankruptsy too, what other choice did she have? I did not see her waiting tables though... The owner of the restaurant had the right idea putting her behind the bar instead.

Nick (Joe Dinicol) impressed me this episode. I original thought that he was being a bit spineless when he copped up to the cocaine being his, especially because he didn't sound in the least bit believable but then after he got fired and stormed back into the writers room I actually stopped and cheered at the TV.

Beth (Dayle McLeod) is kinda smart isn't she? Except when it comes to her dad... Wonder if she will ever answer the phone. I don't blame her though, I'd be majorly pissed off with him. About time she got with Cam (Kristopher Turner)! I knew Raquel would end up doing their movie... I bet it turns out to be a major hit and they all become famous from it! How cool was Beth when Raquel stormed in too, I giggled.

I still think Kal (Andra Fuller) is the main character for me, his story is the one I want to hear about. I am so glad he told Abby (Cassie Steele), she might hate him now but at least he will have someone to talk to about it. Wasn't sure he was actually going to tell her for a second there... but he did! Maybe this is finally the time when Tariq (Benajmin Charles Watson) will come back, I've been waiting for this all season!

Paul: This is not the 70's, it's not the mid-80's, it's not various portions of the 90's. You are not day traders, this is not a high school or a disco tech in Monaco. You are pale, miserable, uncool writers who should not be able to afford this much cocaine, you're lucky you get a writers bathroom.

Nick: You know, you are like the worst person I've ever met and it might be okay if you were good at this job, but you're not. Everybody knows Chris and Ryan completely rewrite everything you do. You're always late, you're always drunk, you look like a muppet without it's fur and the only reason you're even here is because Paul knew you back when you used to be funny.

TV: LA Complex SE2 EP8

LA Complex
Drama

I picked from the very beginning that the strange blonde was Connor's (Jonathan Patrick Moore) sister... but is she really? And who didn't see Jennifer (Krista Allen) and Eric (Alan Van Sprang) getting back together? I'm just glad Connor took the initial discover fine, but then the poor guy had to leave didn't he? I thought he would slip back into the depressed state he was in last season with no one there to look after him or keep him company. But he didn't! Hurrah! Now he has this woman who claims to be his sister and I think if she turns out not to be, he won't mind because he will still have someone.

Looks like the King (Andra Fuller) has found someone new... but this guy (Jarod Joseph) is not standing for the crap he pulled on Tariq (Benjamin Charles Watson). I'm glad that he's a strong male, Kal needs someone to tell him how it is straight and not back down. This guy is lawyer, he won't be easily intimidated. I love how assertive and out in the open this guy is, hope he sticks around for a while.

Sabrina (Georgina Reilly) and Nick (Joe Dinicol) working on acts together is so cute! Is it just me or is Nick actually getting funnier? The bit he did in this episode had me actually laughing out loud and the initial take over from Sabrina - the swoop and kiss - was a great move. He's showing her up though, I wonder if she can handle it... Nick's excursion out into the world of internet advertising / dating was absolutely hilarious!

Raquel (Jewel Staite) took another turn this episode. I was really hating on her this season but this episode has been her saving grace I think. It's possible that she thought that Zach (Rhys Ward) was only there for the same reasons as she is, to make money, but now she realises he actually has a very real problem and I applauded her when she walked out of production. She's still going to get her ass sued... again... but it was the right thing to do. The producer looked a bit worried for a second there too, didn't she?

Abby's (Cassie Steele) new friend is niiiiiice! *winks* He looked really familiar and I couldn't figure out why until I looked him up. His name is Steve Byers and he's in Alphas and Immortals and a bunch of other things. He will totally be back next season... or maybe later in this season if we're lucky!

We finally found out what happened to Simon (Michael Levinson) and Beth's (Dayle McLeod) parents! What is Beth going to do now that Dad has finally called back? I wouldn't want to call him back right away either, I'd be pissed that it took him so long and unsure as to whether he wanted me back... She lied to Simon after she said she wouldn't too...

What a nice closing scene too, love it! Actually thought this was the end of the season but yay, there's more! I'm still loving this show, every episode has me thinking about the next week and there is always something happening. No boring bits!

TV: LA Complex SE2 EP4

The LA Complex
Drama

So I'm pretty sure I say this every time I write about this show; I freakin' LOVE this show! I don't know what it is exactly that makes me love it so much, but I do.

Jewel Staite is always so amazing, I love her! Her sulky face and drunken phone calls at the end of this episode is classic. So, I'm a bit confused, did Raquel actually lose the baby in the last episode? It just sort of glossed over it... so confused! She might have now after that car crash and if she hasn't Connor (Jonathan Patrick Moore) is going to find out she's pregnant in the hospital, then what's going to happen?

Speaking of Connor, he is totally going to get busted for setting his house on fire. Maybe then he'll go running back to Raquel... a girl can hope, can't she? I love the two of them together, I got a bit choked up myself during their fight and then kissing Jennifer Bell (Krista Allen) at the premier? Noooooo Conor! It makes me think of last season when he was so depressed and lonely and no one would help him, and now he's not and Raquel is? You'd think he'd be a bit more sensitive to the situation seeing as he went through something similar himself...

Poor Kaldrick King's (Andra Fuller) dad is trying so hard to get through to him. When the kid at the shelter was reciting Kaldrick's rhymes the King didn't look too happy to hear his own words. Wonder if he's regretting his choice of using derogatory terms like 'faggot'. Irony is a bitch. I wonder how long Kal has known he's gay, whether he felt like that for a while and just kept denying it. Was Tariq (Benjamin Charles Watson) his first guy? Answer these questions, damn you! And bring Tariq back!

Simon's sister Beth (Dale McLeod); I love how harsh she is and her shut down of that Mother, Paula, was fantastic, I wanted to applaud. What a bitch! But poor Simon (Michael Levinson) keeps getting the short end of the stick. I'm glad that him and his friend worked it out between them, showing the adults how to do things! I still really want to know where their parents are...

Those naughty, naughty Christian show kids! When Laura (Megan Hutchings) walked in on Abby (Cassie Steele) and Brandon (Brett Dier) I thought that was it! but then she didn't really seem to care about it... That was when I knew that they wanted to do the nasty with Abby, so predictable. Dirty pretend Christians, haha.

Well, this ep wasn't quite as exciting as the last few have been but if it runs the same amount of eps as last season, that means we're almost done... and last season's cliffy was bloody fantastic!

TV: LA Complex SE2 EP3

The LA Complex
Drama

Have I mentioned how much I love this show?

I'm fascinated by Kaldrick King (Andra Fuller). This episode for me was all about him. I loved the track he was recording. If you actually read this blog then you know I'm a major hip hop head and it was so good to see my genre in this show. If you listened to the lyrics in the track, it's about Tariq... everything is about Tariq...

The battle with Infinite Jest felt like a good moment for King, his comebacks were brilliant no wonder he's The King. I was impressed with how he handled the situation, he's learning. Loved this scene! One of my favourites! I kinda hope that Jest will appear in further eps.

Was the guy who called up the radio station about the 19th Mission Kal's dad?!? It was, wasn't it? Is that why he went to see him then?

Poor Nick (Joe Dinicol) is not having the best time of things is he? Sabrina is being a straight up bitch and Abby (Cassie Steele) is all caught up in her new Christian show but what happened between them in this episode is what living together is really like. Because you see that person all the time, life sometimes becomes more insistent and you end up spending your quality time together sleeping.... like actually sleeping. Abby's being a total bitch about it though...

Oh, and Raquel (Jewel Staite)! She's getting the short end of the stick there too, but she really shouldn't have told Connor (Jonathan Patrick Moore) to go ahead with the fake relationship with Jennifer if she didn't want him to. I know it was kinda sweet and selfless of her to tell him to go for it but she's freaking pregnant with his baby and hasn't told him yet! He'd probably have a totally different opinion on the offer if he knew Raquel was pregnant! Argh! *pulls out hair* Connor is playing the part a bit too well though....

Can't wait 'til next week, one of my favourite shows airing at the moment.

TV: LA Complex SE2 EP1

The LA Complex
Drama

I love this show and I'm so glad it's back for a second season so soon after the first. It's a pretty obscure Canadian show and I wouldn't be surprised if you haven't heard about it until now. I found out about it from Jewel Staite (Firefly) on Twitter and immediately went and watched the six episodes of the short season one. After that I was a bit sad because I wasn't sure it would be renewed...but low and behold! Here we are! Yay!

When I first started watching it I thought it was going to be one of those lame comedies... but its actually really quite good! Based around a block of flats in LA that are filled with wanna-be actors and actresses, it tells some great stories of the less glamorous side of show business; the auditions, struggling to books jobs and pay the rent.

I thought the characters were a bit flimsy at first but coming into this second season I see the more serious side of them and I care about them.

The whole situation between the King (Andra Fuller) and Tariq (Benjamin Charles Watson) has always been so damn tragic. I get why King doesn't want to come out of the closet, how many gay/bi rappers do you know of? But there is something seriously wrong with him to be able to smash Tariq like that. What a way to leave off last season! Tariq reacted exactly the way he should have, I'm proud of him but so sad for him too. Not only has he lost the guy he loves but now he's moving home and leaving all his friends and his career too. I am especially glad that his boss Dynasty (Dayo Ade) knows what actually happened.

Poor Nick Wagner (Joe Dinicol)! The interview scene made me laugh something fierce! Sabrina (Georgina Reilly) is great, I love her dry sense of humour. Can't wait to see what goes on between those two in the coming season. But what about Abby (Cassie Steele)? He didn't tell her that they would be working together... is she gonna flip when she finds out?

And Connor (Jonathan Patrick Moore - Who's an Aussie!). Why has no one noticed how lonely that poor fella is? He burnt down his own freakin' house for goodness sake! I am glad that he and Raquel (Staite) are finally official, that boy needs someone and so does Raquel. What's she going to do about the baby?

Alicia's (Chelan Simmons) gone, Tariq's gone. The two new kids are moving in I'm assuming... Who are they? Did they run away from home or do they just not have one? And if they did run away, does that mean someone will recognise Simon from the commercial? I love new characters but I hope that's not the last we see of Alicia and Tariq.

I loved the live band in last season and did you notice that they changed this season? Anyone know the names of both bands? I'm always after new music.

Sooo excited about this show being back! But you can probably tell that from the length of this post...
